Pinning for you

Hey guys, this is a lazy post - but at least I'm posting! A sweet friend told me how much she likes what I pin, which was a surprisingly great compliment! So I thought I'd share some of what I've been pinning lately.

Hanoi Travel Guide - A Pair & A Spare

Geneva of A Pair & A Spare goes to Hanoi

This Hong Kong- based fashion blogger usually posts creative DIYs, but I love her travel posts the most. Her recent weekend trip to Hanoi makes me want to pack NOW.

Better Home and Gardens Expedit Hack

With the ikat furniture, hints of teal and massive bookcases, I would pretty much just like to live here, please.

Franish - Oxford Under Sweater Trick

Now why didn't I ever think of that?

Stuff We Ate - Spaghetti Squash Pad Thai

We're on a major spaghetti squash bent over at our house. This was a fun switch up from the Italian recipes I normally do with the stuff.

Best Body Fitness - Fully Body Tabata

Wanna sweat? OH, child. this will do it. There's a million free tabata timer apps on the iphone, so get it going!

Wedding Updates

To all the (seemingly millions) of people asking me about my wedding plans, this one is for you.
Weddings are exciting and beautiful and sentimental. They are also huge pressure-pots of expectation, emotions and stress. We already have a ton of those things in our lives right now (moving in together, new jobs, etc.) so the wedding planning has stayed decidedly on the back burner until our lives are just a smidge more settled. So here you go - exactly where I am in the wedding planning process:

1. Pinterest
I've collected some lovely pictures (mostly with the help of wonderful people who have pinned things for me themselves). Here are some of my favorites:

avie designs: INTRODUCING "IKAT" WEDDING SUITE
Awesome patterned invites- here

Love the blue and white runner
Pattern & Lanterns - must haves! here

2. General Preferences: Fall, outdoor, bright colors, fun music, great food.

3. Location: we have a scrawled-out list on a piece of yellow legal paper. Indy area, outdoor component, slightly out-of-the ordinary if possible :)

5. Facebook: my facebook friends rock. After one appeal, I've gotten so many websites and magazine resources to look at: stylemepretty.com, apracticalwedding.com, theknot.com etc. Thanks guys!

That's it, I promise! It just hasn't been happening, y'all. We are so excited for this to be a fun process, to involve all of our dear friends and family in this exciting time. It'll be a challenge for sure - we've got busy lives, budget constraints (gotta save up for a sweet honeymoon!), and we're living away from the location and the majority of our family and friends. But just you wait, once we get 'er done, it's gonna be awesome! So thanks for your patience- and stay tuned!

xo,
E.

Praying at the Altar of Technology

droidism
here
Do you ever feel like you pray to the altar of technology? Sure, C3P0 might make a benevolent overlord, but who knows the true motives of our Dell workstations and iPhones?

Some nights it really hits me: I've spent all day with some kind of screen in front of my face -  my computer for 8 hours, my cell phone and my TV in the evenings. If I got a kindle to read on, I'd eliminate the only real non-tech entertainment media I use.

I'll wander out to the porch, intending to read or log-on to Pinterest, and I'll realize: maybe I don't need to be entertained. Maybe I can just sit here, watch the clouds roll in and wait for the spring rains to fall. If I squint my eyes a bit, to obscure the parked cars and telephone wires, I can almost imagine living in a time where this week's blockbuster was an impressive sunset over the mountains and a text message was a particularly poignant verse of scripture. Sure, people back then would have died for a chance to watch the new Avengers movie in 3-D but that doesn't mean we shouldn't remember to value the simple things. So tonight, I'm going to enjoy some face-to-face time with family, read a little, and watch the stars.

Hope you'll join me!

Ridiculous, part deux

So remember when I posted about my obsession with Pinterest here - and then went on to mock all the crazy stuff people pin on Pinterest in this post?

Well, someone got wind of my great idea (ahem) and started the blog Pinterest, You are Drunk. Major snaps for the title, I'll grant you. Here are a few gems:

What, didn't you do this to your dog for St. Patty's? Guess you don't love animals...

Ditto.

Every movie-goer's worst nightmare.

Every mother's worst nightmare...

And every many's dream.

Nice work, PYAD. But just remember...I was there first!

Crazy Shit People Post on Pinterest: Vol. 1

Pinned Image
Today is not a day to be serious.
Today is a day to make fun of the ridiculous images people post on Pinterest.
If these are your pins, or repins, shame, shame on you.
And yes, most of these are tagged as "Cute," "Love" and "Ridiculous (in a good way)!!!!!"
They just don't get it, do they?
All images c/o - you guessed it - the big P.

Someone call PETA...

Wait, wait, keep them on the line....
Also these are Louboutins = they cost a bajillion dollars and will be on every starlet's hoofers in the next two weeks.
Pinned Image
A snuggie for two, or some kind of cruel, alien birth?
Bacon pancakes... ridiculous, or ridiculously brilliant? You be the judge.
Pinned Image
Candy-covered cake. Have fun at that birthday party, kids. Parents, run, run away!

Ok, I'm all for working out, but can we just stop all the self-hatred on the Pinterest Fitness page? I mean, geez, it's like Jillian Michaels on a sugar kick ... I mean, a juice fast.

Let this be a warning to all bridezillas: curse at your photographer one too many times, and here's where she'll have you pose for that last shot...
**Note: I had to limit myself to just one crazy railroad photo shoot pic. There is a shocking amount of ridiculousness happening around railroad tracks, people.

You'll notice I named this post Vol. 1 in anticipation of more posts along this theme.
There's too much crazytown for just one post...
