On a Boat...

on a boatOn a boat
here and here

I spent the weekend - you guessed it - on a boat.
Poseidon, look at me.
Yeah, the weekend was somewhere between the classy images above and The Lonely Island boys -- maybe with a bit of this thrown in:

Yes, there were shenanigans involved. But mostly just a really great weekend full of gorgeous Michigan weather, good friends and some delicious homemade cocktails (thanks, Katie!)

Now that I'm a bonafide sailor, I think I need me some of these goodies for the next boat ride:

Hot dot underwire halter top
Polka Dot Bikini, JCrew
I love a bikini with coverage on top and bottom. This one looks tummy- and bust-friendly.

Rainbow Sandals
I can't quite get on the boat shoe trend, but I am crushing on these Rainbow flip flops. The prepsters wore these in college while I was rocking Old Navy flips. I'm ready to upgrade. These have arch support and actual leather so your feet won't kill you for dancing all day on deck.

Merona® Womens Classic Chino Short (Fit 1) - Assorted Colors
Target shorts
I actually already have these highlighter green (they're brighter in person) shorts and I am in love. The fit is really great - the leg is longer and the waistband is not too low - and they're a cool alternative to jorts. I'm going back for another color - either white or red...
Protect Daily Sun Protection Argan Oil Infused SPF 40+
Jose Maran Sunscreen
Hallelujah! Miracle of miracles - I escaped the weekend without even a  hint of a sunburn. Most of my compatriots were not so lucky, but I was really aggressive about reapplying. It helped that I had nice sunscreen to use - this Josie Maran is really nice for the face - not too oily. I also picked up some of the natural sunscreen at Target for the body and I really liked it. Definitely felt like less of a walking oil slick than normal.

So there you go. Everything you need to be... on a boat.
Thanks to all our friends (and boat owners) for making this a fabulous break1

How was your weekend, folks?

Seasonal Dis

here

Do you do this? All winter I'm crazy longing for warm weather, dreaming of walking outside without a coat and basking in the warm sunshine. Then, the minute it hits, 85, I grumble rumble about how hot it is! Last night, tangled up in my sheets, sweating, all I wanted was a cold winter breeze...

Am I wrong if I just want it to be Spring, then Fall, then Spring again? This is where The Boy makes an evil laugh and suggests sunny California (his home state). And I just shake my head and say "cost of living." Maybe the Midwest's bargain prices make up for the snow and heat and quick-vanishing Springs. Maybe...

Lime-out

Amazing - it feels like summer here in the middle of March. 80 degrees, I tell you - almost makes you feel like global warming might not be such a bad thing (I keed I keed!) I've been relaxing on my porch, soaking up the sun and craving hot-weather treats....especially all things lime. Observe.

Heaven
I will admit it. I have a problem. I made it through one bag this week.....and then when out and bought another one. And I may or may not (details are blurry) have eaten some for breakfast this morning. I'm sure that "hint of lime" flavoring is really "green toxic waste powder" so I'm thinking about trying this recipe for homemade baked lime chips.
from here
You can't enjoy a bag and half (what?) of lime flavored tortilla chips with out a limey-beverage now can you? Absolutely non. SO whip one of these up for yourself (it's a family classic):
-Fill a glass with ice.
-Top with Seven-up
-Stir in a couple spoonfuls of frozen Limeade Mix
-Mix in a glug of your favorite booze (I like white rum)
-Swirl and enjoy (oh, you will)

So, none of the above things are good for your health you say? That is true. But with the weather outside, I'm sure you are out skipping and jumping around so you'll burn off the extra lime-flavored calories. And while you're out, keep your lips nice and moist with this:

Handmade lip-balm (it comes in LIME!) from the cutest little soap shop in Madison, IN --All Good Things. You can order this stuff - made with coconut oil, shea butter, and essential oils -online. Do it, and feel like you're eating limes all day long!

Lime it up this weekend folks - they're green for St Patty's!
xo,
E.
